Neighborhood overview

The Strip District runs between 11th and 33rd street and includes the main streets of Smallman Street, Penn Avenue, and Liberty Avenue. Despite its relatively small population the area is a celebrated shopping destination for both Pittsburghers and visitors. The main thoroughfares host a variety of open air markets, specialty shops, and restaurants making it a popular, and walkable, weekend destination. It's proximity to neighboring Lower Lawrenceville provides an easy commute for those living in one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city.

Major Industries

In recent years The Strip District has become a haven for those advancing the future of technology and robotics, especially companies focused on autonomous vehicle development. Uber's Advanced Technology Group, Argo AI, Wombat Security, and Apple are all current residents. A variety of specialty grocers, restaurants, and art galleries have also found a welcoming home in The Strip. This unique combination of industries has produced a quintessentially Pittsburgh neighborhood; both gritty and creative, pushing technological boundaries and embracing the history of the city, all while quietly becoming one of the most up-and-coming neighborhoods in the city.
